Thrill of the Grill

The whole family got up Saturday morning, April 21 and ran a 5K, the Thrill of the Grill in Plano.  Cocoa Bean & Mikaela came so Mike not only ran the 5K, he did it while pushing the stroller and keeping up with the dog. He still managed a time of 35:02, which is very impressive!  Thanks to Mike for taking on the stroller and the dog, I was able to run my best time of 34:46 - 14 seconds under my goal time.  Can't wait for the next race on May 19th!

Rough Riders

We went to opening weekend of the Frisco Rough Riders minor league baseball team with our small group.  It was a tense game at times, but the Rough Riders had a good 8th inning and came out on top.

The Rest of Easter

I realized I never finished our Easter weekend.  Before lunch, we did an indoor hunt of the hard-boiled eggs that Mikaela dyed the day before.  It had started to storm/rain so Graemma and Graempa's front room became the hunting ground.

What does that spell?

On our wall coming down the stairs is a beautiful photo collage taken by my friend, Kylar Anderson.  It is six photos all in a line because in each is a photo of at least one member of our family and a letter.  Together - it spells FAMILY.  See the picture below:
So, coming down the stairs one day Mikaela says, "Look.  F-A-M-I-L-Y."
Daddy: "Yes.  What does that spell?"
Mikaela: "Jesus!"

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was filled with family, friends, and egg hunts.  Friday, Graemma, Mikaela, and I went to see my grandmother, MeMe out in Wylie.  Sadly, I didn't take any pictures.

On Saturday morning we went to VVCC for their Eggstravaganza.  Mikaela was ready for this hunt.  She knew exactly what to do.

She filled her basket quickly.

By the end, she just started opening them up for the candy inside.
After the VVCC egg hunt, Mike and I had a fun lunch with college friends (again, no pictures) and then we went back to Graemma and Graempa's to dye Easter Eggs.  Mikaela was more into this task as well.  She wasn't exactly gentle with the eggs, so a couple ended up with cracks, but she enjoyed the process, nonetheless.

On Sunday, our church had an egg hunt immediately following the services.  Mikaela was the oldest in her group at The Branch, so she was very ready to go.  We had to manage her egg gathering here so that all kids got some.

Texas Bluebonnets

We attempted to get a few photos in the bluebonnets.  Mikaela wasn't a fan.  Whenever we stuck her in a section of bluebonnets she would exclaim, "I want get out!"  Still, we got a few decent shots and the flowers were as beautiful as always.  Enjoy.

Mikaela's First Haircut

While we were in Kerrville, Gran cut Mikaela's hair for the first time to try and get her bangs out of her eyes.  She wasn't crazy about the way the hair tickled her nose, but enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror after it was over.  Thanks Gran for being the stylist.
