I think every year I block out just how busy May really is, but this year has been jam packed it seems. 

May 6th we went to a Rough Riders minor league baseball game with several members in our church.

The kids have had a lot going on in the past couple of weeks it seems.  Here's the highlights. 

Nicholas' final Spanish Schoolhouse performance was May 18. 

Then the following week,  he "graduated" from pre-school.

Mikaela's LEAP class submitted a video for the REEL Voices video contest put on by the district and they were a finalist.  We went to a Red Carpet event where they got a certificate and recognition on stage.  There are some very talented kids!

First Days of School

Donna has been back to work since 8/11, Nicholas back to school since 8/15, and Mikaela since 8/22, so it's time for a few "first day of school" pictures.  Poor Daddy does getting summer vacation like the rest of his family.

Nicholas attends Spanish Schoolhouse in North Carrollton.  This is his second year there  We love this place.  I can't say enough positive things about it!

Mikaela is now in first grade.  She attends Independence Elementary in LISD.  She's in their dual language program.  This year, she has just one teacher who alternates each day which language she teaches in.  Last year, in Kindergarten, she changed teachers depending on the language day.

They hadn't changed the marque yet.  We went the day before school starts to take these photos.  It makes life way less stressful for Mommy!

School Daze

With school in session for almost an entire grading period, I thought it was time I posted about the first days of school.   I wouldn't want to rush anything...


Nicholas started pre-school this year.  He is attending Spanish Schoolhouse in Carrollton/Castle Hills.  His teachers are wonderful and he's having a good time.  He's finally getting to where he doesn't cry at drop off, but is always happy and playing when we come to pick him up.

Meet the teacher

This card is supposed to be photo-shopped all cute with info, but who has time for that?  His first day was 8/12/15.  Teachers: Sra. Ivonne y Sra. Yasmine.  Younger 2s - Peru.  He loves cars and "wheeooos" which is his word for any vehicle (police, firetruck, ambulance) that has a siren.   His favorite word is "no" it seems, but Mommy and Daddy are working hard on that!  He loves music and loves to dance.

Mikaela started kindergarten about 10 days later at Janie Stark Elementary in Farmers Branch.  She's enrolled in the Dual Language program and we are excited to see all she'll develop and learn through this experience.  My mom said the other night (when asleep on her bed), she thinks Mikaela was singing Spanish in her sleep.

The day before school started, we actually posed many of the "first day" shots just so we'd have them done and out of the way to reduce stress on Mom and Dad.

School is going well.  Mikaela has had some "yellow" days, but overall does pretty well.  This is a whole new experience for her having not done formal preschool prior to Kindergarten.  We're also battling germs and illness a lot this year too!    But overall, we love school.
