George Bush Museum & Library

Mike worked hard to make my birthday really special this week.  I got little surprises every day, leading up to my actually birthday (9/26) as well as a surprise lunch at Ozona's Bar & Grill and an outing to the George Bush Museum/Library which had a Baseball Exhibit at the time.  However, we had to bring Nick along as he had been sick so a fever the day before prevented him from going to school the day of our outing.  So... we weren't able to see quite as much as we'd have liked, but it was still a great outing.

What We've Been Up To

Greetings Blog Readers!

We have been busy with school and work around here, but we've still found some time for fun.  We've also battled some illness as of late, but we seem to be on the mend.  We haven't found a new home yet, but the search continues.

We took cookies to the local fire station on 9/11 to say thank you and the chief took time to show us the rigs.
We finally got to see a Ranger game the last week of regular season (9/28), thanks to some generous friends who are season ticket holders.  They didn't win that night, but we're AL West champs, so it's all good.

School Daze

With school in session for almost an entire grading period, I thought it was time I posted about the first days of school.   I wouldn't want to rush anything...

Nicholas started pre-school this year.  He is attending Spanish Schoolhouse in Carrollton/Castle Hills.  His teachers are wonderful and he's having a good time.  He's finally getting to where he doesn't cry at drop off, but is always happy and playing when we come to pick him up.
Meet the teacher

This card is supposed to be photo-shopped all cute with info, but who has time for that?  His first day was 8/12/15.  Teachers: Sra. Ivonne y Sra. Yasmine.  Younger 2s - Peru.  He loves cars and "wheeooos" which is his word for any vehicle (police, firetruck, ambulance) that has a siren.   His favorite word is "no" it seems, but Mommy and Daddy are working hard on that!  He loves music and loves to dance.

Mikaela started kindergarten about 10 days later at Janie Stark Elementary in Farmers Branch.  She's enrolled in the Dual Language program and we are excited to see all she'll develop and learn through this experience.  My mom said the other night (when asleep on her bed), she thinks Mikaela was singing Spanish in her sleep.

Many of her church friends who also attend Stark.

The day before school started, we actually posed many of the "first day" shots just so we'd have them done and out of the way to reduce stress on Mom and Dad.

We took these because this was the porch where all of my "first day" shots were taken as kids.

such a big girl!

another photo-shop hopeful - First day: 8/24.  Teachers: Mrs. Whisenhunt & Sra. Ramirez.  When she grows up she wants to be a teacher. Loves coloring, singing, and dancing.

Our good friend, Karen Ritchie is a teacher at Stark so we got a first day picture with her.

First day in class.   Mommy cried right after this picture was taken.
School is going well.  Mikaela has had some "yellow" days, but overall does pretty well.  This is a whole new experience for her having not done formal preschool prior to Kindergarten.  We're also battling germs and illness a lot this year too!    But overall, we love school.

Summer Wrap-Up

Here are a few final summer activities we've done around here.

The last couple of days of swim class include "diving day" and "show off day".  Here are photos from that.  Mikaela has really enjoyed swimming these last few weeks.

On the last day before Nick started preschool, we took the kids to Sea Life Grapevine.  They had a great time.

Mikaela also rode the carousel in the mall after lunch.

Wednesday, August 12, was Nicholas' first day of Preschool.  He looked so grown up in his school uniform.  I can't wait to see all her learns this year.
