Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend festivities started off with Nicholas' 4th ear infection and a trip to the doctor.  That was Good Friday.  I was very thankful that I still had the day off and was able to take him and get him started on medicine before all the EGGS-citing plans occurred (I know, bad joke).

We colored/dyed eggs, but didn't get pictures of that this year.  Sorry!

Saturday afternoon we went to the Easter Party at church, which was a mini carnival with egg hunts, food, face painting, and bounce houses.  Mikaela had a blast!

 

 

Sunday morning was church like normal, then lunch with the Graemparents were we also did a little egg hunting in the backyard and playtime/picture time  in the front.

Happy Easter, everyone.  May you find the Hope that comes from this most joyous holiday!

13 Months Old

Just a few things I want to remember about what Nicholas is up to at 13 months old:

• 8 teeth, 4 top, 4 bottom
• Walking, and a little bit of running
• weighs 18.8 lbs
• Loves to dance and will do so whenever he hears music, including when Mikaela sings.
• Loves to knock down block towers that others build.
• Has trouble navigating from concrete to grass - not really sure about that green stuff.
• Has had 4 ear infections since January.  We will be visiting the ENT soon.
• Sleeps 11 hours a night, 7:45ish to 6:30 when I wake him up during the week
• Takes two naps, most of the time, 45 min to 1 hr each.
• Will make anything a push toy - if it has wheels, he's going to push it.  
• Loves to eat and will try anything you put in front of him.  He doesn't always like it, but isn't afraid to try.
• Not a fan of cow's milk.  We are still working on that, but he drinks some soy as well.
• Starting to really communicate.  Still only really signs "milk" but uses it for a variety of needs.  Other gestures he makes helps of fill in the blanks.  
• Loves to "read" books, opening and closing the pages
• Learning to throw balls, and sometimes food.
• Learning to climb - loves to climb the stairs and can come back down on his belly.  Also loves to climb on Mikaela's bed or to stand on chairs.  Oh boy!
• pretty mellow kid - been fussy because of his ears, but does really well for others and just chills, plays with toys, and watches people.

He's been a busy little guy lately, figuring things out, working on his communication skills, and learning all sorts of things.

One Year Photos

Two weeks ago, we took Nicholas to the Farmers Branch Historical Park to take a few one year photos.  It is the same place we took Mikaela for her photo shoot.  My very talented friend, Kylar, took Mikaela's, but due to time, Mike took Nicholas' photos.  These have not been doctored, but I wanted to get them blogged before too much more time passed.
