Home Projects: Master Closet

Shortly before Christmas, a section of the master closet holding many of Mike's clothes fell.  We'd had only concrete as our floor for almost 2 years.  So... we decided we needed to redo the closet.

Before:
Mike's broken closet rod

no ceiling lighting due to AC leak summer of 2009

concrete floor - carpet ripped up after AC leak in 2009
We stripped all the old stuff, gave it a fresh coat of paint, fixed the ceiling and added back the ceiling light.  Now ALL of our clothes fit in this closet.  We no longer need our dressers in the bedrooms so they will be leaving our house soon.  Gotta love organization!

After:

new cork vinyl floor
It was a great project, but we are glad it's done.  Now to organize the rest of the house...

Mikaela Talks

Today we were all in the living room rolling the ball, taking turns, having fun.  Cocoa got in on the action with a little fetch.  Once Cocoa Bean brought her ball back and dropped it on command.  Mikaela patted her on the neck and said, "Good Boy."

Unpopular Parenting

Today, Daddy had to take something away from Mikaela.  She was not thrilled by this so she came crying to Mommy for comfort and refused to hug Daddy or really even look at him.  About ten minutes later we were all in the kitchen.  Daddy walked by Mikaela and she informed him, "I like you again"  and gave Daddy a hug.

Teacher's Kid

The other night we were reading stories before bed and Mikaela takes the book she wants to her daddy then looks at me with a finger waving, "No questions, Mommy."

Sure is tough being a teacher's kid.

Mikaela Talks

After church I asked, "What did you learn about in church today?"  She replied, "Bible!"  She's already got her "Sunday School" answers ready.

She has learned to tell Cocoa "park it" before dinner.  Cocoa's not so thrilled.

Mikaela burped a letter of the alphabet.  Her father was so proud.  Mommy is now working on "Excuse me."

She was playing teacher and asked Mommy, "What letter this, Mommy?"
Mommy: "C"
Mikaela: "C - right."

Mikaela Talks

Daddy gave Mommy a loving embrace and kiss in the kitchen to which Mikaela responded, "Ohhh, Mom!" with slight disgust in her tone.  So much for romance in the Moreland household...
