Seven Years Old

Mikaela Belle is now 7 years old.  She's in 1st grade at Independence Elementary.  She is still in dual language and doing well.  At her fall conference, her teacher, Mrs. Prater said she is reading above grade level in both languages.  This year she has just one teacher instead of rotating between two, but still rotates Spanish and English days.

This year she is continuing piano lessons with my mom.  She also did a basketball camp at her school.

Other fun facts:
Height: 49 inches
Weight: 53.6
Favorite Color: gold
Favorite Food: veggie sticks
Favorite Activities: Princess Ball
Favorite Subject: writing
Favorite Hobbies: coloring, whistling
Future job: artist
Good friends: Emma, Estrella, Isabella Q
Favorite Toys: fashion plates, scrapbook (a girl after mama's heart)
Favorite TV Show: Phineas & Ferb
Favorite Movie: A Bug's Life

On her actual birthday, we had a donut breakfast and then they watched the PSHS homecoming parade (in which I marched with students).  For her birthday this year,  we didn't have a party.  She was able to pick one friend and we took them to Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine and then out to eat.  She had a great time and mom much preferred this much simpler celebration.  It probably wasn't any cheaper, but the low stress factor was worth it!

And now for photos:

Just outside the exit of the aquarium was one of those jump places.  Each kid got a chance to do it.  And all 3 loved it.

We have been so blessed these last 7 years with our dear little Mikaela.  We look forward to seeing all God has planned for her life.

What We've Been Up To

Greetings Blog Readers!

We have been busy with school and work around here, but we've still found some time for fun.  We've also battled some illness as of late, but we seem to be on the mend.  We haven't found a new home yet, but the search continues.

Take your dad to school day

We took cookies to the local fire station on 9/11 to say thank you and the chief took time to show us the rigs.
We finally got to see a Ranger game the last week of regular season (9/28), thanks to some generous friends who are season ticket holders.  They didn't win that night, but we're AL West champs, so it's all good.

looks comfy, right?

Family Friday Night

After a rousing game of Chutes & Ladders (congrats to Daddy, the winner), Mikaela found her magic wand and began to do some tricks for us.
After that, a new game was created, "The Poof Game."  The magician points to wand at a subject and says, "Poof, you're a _________" and fills in the blank with an animal. The subject then acts it out, makes the animal sound, etc.  When Mike was the magician and Mikaela the subject, Daddy had gone through many animals (cow, pig, bunny, dog, etc) and decided to say, "Poof!   You're a bird."  Then from there he said, "Poof! You're an angry bird." (This is a favorite game of Mikaela's).  Her angry bird rendition got Mommy very tickled (sorry no video).  After that Mikaela wanted to be the magician and make Mommy the subject.  Daddy informed her that until Mommy stopped laughing, she wouldn't make a very good subject.  To which Mikaela replied, "Stop laughing, Mommy."  Yeah, cuz that works.

A little while later, after Mommy composed herself and was a successful subject, Daddy was the magician, instructed by Mikaela.

"Make her a ducky."
"A ducky?"
"Yeah, you know.  A ducky."

And that's how we roll on Friday nights at the Moreland house...
